Moving into Montessori will be a wonderful introduction to the 2010-11 school year. Your child will have an opportunity to explore the materials and familiarize him/herself with the Montessori classroom environment as well as learning their role in a Montessori classroom. For those children that have never been to school or are joining us after a long summer, this is a great time for children to socialize with their peers and become familiar with the school.

July 19-23: Letter Sound Camp

Come and explore beginning letter sounds. The students will begin to hear what sound each of the letter sounds make. The students will set off exploring each day with a daily walk searching for objects in the outdoor environment that begin with our letter sounds for that day. The inside environment will also include work that will be focused on the letter sounds. Some of the work will include forming clay letters sounds, art, music, and language games. Letter sounds will even be included in the daily snacks! From apples and bananas to watermelon and zucchini, the menu will reflect the sounds they have been learning.  The students will end each camp day with songs and books that also remind them of the letter sounds that they explored.
