The Middle School Program

"Serving the adolescent student; partnering with parents to bridge each student’s path from childhood to adulthood."

Middle SchoolThe adolescent years mark a new and very different stage of human development.

  • Rapid physical growth
  • Sense of insecurity in the child who is fast becoming an adult
  • Newly developing intellectual abilities—abilities to abstract, conjecture, predict, and create
  • Acute social needs—The adolescent asks: Who am I? Where do I fit? What contribution can I make? How can I participate?
  • Difficulty reading emotions
  • Time of dramatic change in the structure of the brain
  • An innate need for adolescents to construct themselves as responsible individuals who participate as contributing members of society
