Early Childhood
Young Children 6 Weeks to 6 Years Old

The Montessori Method centers on a carefully prepared environment, orderly, simple, and purposeful, designed to support each child’s development. At Oak Farm Montessori School, our Early Childhood program features multi-age classrooms that promote socialization, respect, and collaboration. Infants (6 weeks–18 months), Toddlers (18 months–3 years), and Primary students (3–6 years) learn together in environments tailored to their developmental needs.

Children engage in meaningful, self-chosen work using scientifically designed materials that foster independence, concentration, and cognitive growth. These hands-on materials are self-correcting, encouraging responsibility for one’s own learning. The adult serves as a guide and observer, supporting, not directing, so each child can develop confidence, self-discipline, and a love for learning.

Infants are born with extraordinary potential, naturally curious and eager to explore. Dr. Montessori’s research, supported by current science, shows that brain and physical development progress more rapidly during infancy than at any other stage of life.

At Oak Farm Montessori School, our carefully prepared infant environment offers rich sensory experiences and space for movement. Infants develop gross motor skills through crawling and walking, and fine motor skills through grasping, feeding, and creative expression.

Montessori-trained teachers and assistants provide warm, responsive care, fostering secure attachments that lay the foundation for healthy social and emotional development.

Toddlers
Children 18 Months to 3 Years Old

Oak Farm Montessori School’s toddler classroom offers a gentle, supportive transition from home to school. Through close collaboration with parents, children gradually gain the confidence to separate without anxiety.

Our Montessori-trained teachers nurture each child’s natural development, with a strong emphasis on fostering independence. During this formative stage, toddlers begin shaping their character, self-esteem, social skills, and approach to learning.

The environment is thoughtfully arranged with developmentally appropriate materials that toddlers can choose independently. These hands-on activities introduce concepts of sequence, form, shape, movement, and sound, and evolve as the child grows emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

Primary
Children 3 to 6 Years Old

At Oak Farm Montessori School, the Primary environment (ages 3–6) is thoughtfully designed using Montessori principles to support each child’s natural curiosity and love of learning.

Children experience an academically rich and socially nurturing setting that promotes order, concentration, coordination, and independence. Montessori materials lay the foundation for math, reading, writing, science, geography, history, art, and music. Each child is seen as a unique individual, and teachers build strong relationships to guide personalized learning.

This individualized approach fosters confidence, competence, and a lifelong love of learning, preparing students for success in the elementary years and beyond.
