Elementary
Young Children Ages 6 to 12 Years Old
Oak Farm Montessori School’s Primary environment (ages 3–6) is thoughtfully designed using Montessori principles to nurture each child’s natural love of learning.
Children thrive in a rich academic and social setting that fosters independence, concentration, coordination, and a sense of order. Montessori materials support foundational learning in math, reading, writing, science, geography, art, and music.
Each child is honored as an individual, with teachers building strong relationships to personalize instruction and support growth. These early experiences lay the groundwork for confident, capable learners prepared for their elementary years.
Lower Elementary
Young Children Ages 6 to 9 Years Old
The Montessori Lower Elementary classroom marks the beginning of the second plane of development, offering a personalized and dynamic educational experience for children ages 6–9. Students build on the foundation from the Primary environment through independent, self-directed study and collaborate with teachers to create individualized lesson plans that align with their interests and the full Montessori curriculum.
This stage is characterized by a deep curiosity about culture, imagination, and the broader world. Children explore everything from microscopic life to galaxies, transitioning from hands-on experiences to abstract thinking through guided research.
Dr. Montessori emphasized the importance of helping children understand their place in the world and their responsibility within it, laying the foundation for empathy, appreciation, and peace through education.

Upper Elementary
Young Children Ages 9 to 12 Years Old
In the Upper Elementary environment (ages 9–12), students begin the transition into adolescence. While they may vary physically, they share a growing desire for independence and a need for structure and emotional support. A defining shift at this stage is their emerging ability for abstract thought.
Upper Elementary students remain curious, socially engaged, and globally aware. They explore the world through reasoning, research, and increasingly sophisticated questions. The curriculum supports this growth with opportunities for deeper study across a wide range of subjects, including the history of math and language, chemical reactions, algebra, geometry, and literature.
Students also develop essential academic skills such as note-taking, time management, and exploring various methods to demonstrate their learning, laying a strong foundation for success in Middle School.
