About Melissa:

Melissa Witt is the Outdoor Specialist at Oak Farm Montessori School. She attended Purdue University Northwest, where she studied Elementary Education. In 2024, she became a certified Forest School teacher through the Forest School Teacher Institute and received training in the Project Learning Tree Curriculum at the Indiana Natural Resources Teacher Institute. Her passion for outdoor education grew during the COVID years, as she developed place-based, hands-on curriculum for her own children while exploring state parks and nature preserves.

Favorite "Only at Oak Farm" memory?:

"Only at Oak Farm do the teachers need full rain gear and mud boots for play time. I'll never forget jumping in puddles with my oldest child one very rainy Primary field day."

What work at OFMS feels most meaningful to you?:

"I love Kinderforest. There is something so magical about watching the students explore the woods. I get to see their curiosity and creativity at work while they investigate nature with their friends."
