Community Coffee

This will be a virtual evening session from 6:00 - 7:15pm. We will have two special guests leading the discussion on diversity, social justice and inclusion. Jon Hale, Ph.D., who is an Associate Professor of Education Policy, Organization and Leadership from the University of Illinois and Naomi Simmons-Thorne, B.S. who is a Graduate Student and Fello from the Research Institute for Scholars of Equity at the University of South Carolina.

Objectives:
1. Build upon the work of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team of OFMS and raise awareness among parents about the need for greater diversity, equity, and inclusion.
2. Empower participants to identify biases and the interests, needs, and concerns among OFMS parents in regard to incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion.
3. Introduce parents to children's and young adult literature as well research geared toward professionals and parents that centralize the tenets of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
