Sophomore wins Honorable Mention

Heterophone wins honorable mention
The word 'refuse' has two meanings, but is spelled the same way. Oak Farm Montessori High School Sophomore, Sullivan McCreery, says he created this art, "to embody the idea that not all humankind's advancements, more specifically America, have been beneficial to our development as a species."
"American Refuse" is the title of his artwork and is a play on words. "The word 'refuse' means “ to indicate or show that one is not willing to do something. The word 'refuse' refers to garbage. I am not, however, just trying to criticise how things are in modern ages. but more so in an understanding that I am a part of the problem just as much as anyone else." Sully shared.
The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Ceremony will take place on February 18th, from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM, and the artwork (including Sullivan's piece!) will be on display at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art from February 10th to April 7th!
